Board Positions
Included below is a short description of the various positions that people hold on the Board of Directors. This information is intended to highlight the work that each position does and increase awareness of positions for people who may be interested in volunteering.
Past President
The Past President will serve a one year term automatically following the completed term as President. If the President cannot complete their term then the Past President will take over that term as President. The Past President is a non-voting advisor for the Board of Directors.
President
The President will serve a one-year term as President which will automatically be following by a one-year term as Past President. The President will chair all meetings of the members and the board, in charge of general management and supervision of the affairs and operations of the association, and fill vacancies as required.
President-Elect
The President Elect will serve a one-year term as President Elect before serving a one-year term as President, and then another one-year term as Past President.
Financial Officer
The Financial Officer will serve a two-year term and is responsible for overseeing all financial management of the association. The Financial Officer will ensure transparency of all finances and will report to the Board of Directors.
Secretary
The secretary will serve a two year term and be a voting member of the board. During this term the secretary will attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and General Membership ad record all facts and minutes of the proceedings.
Member-at-Large
Each member-at-large will serve a one-year term and be a voting member of the board. Members-at-large will assist the Board of Directors in completing tasks, giving their feedback and perspectives, and being active members of discussions and projects.
RVTTC-TTVAC Directors
Directors will serve a three year term commencing on December 1 following their appointment to the position. RVTTC-TTVAC Directors are not able to serve more than two, three-year terms without taking a one full term break. Directors in this role will follow the job description set out by the SAVT and RVTTC-TTVAC and are expected to serve in an active role on the national level.
Student Liaison
Student liaisons will serve a term for the duration that they are a student and provide feedback and perspective for the board from the student point of view and ensure that communication between the SAVT and their student bodies is established and maintained.
